Kosova
Over a third of Kosova’s population is living below the poverty line of $2 a day. Situated in one of the poorest regions of Europe Kosova is considered to be the least developed country in the region. Five Years on from the conflict that created more than a million refugees the future still looks bleak for many Kosovans In 1999 Europe saw another tragedy unravelling in this once peaceful but yet fragile state. Conflict broke out and the majority of Kosovan’s who are over 90% ethnic Albanians suffered death and destruction.
HAI in Kosova
HAI responded with its emergency campaign by providing several containers of emergency relief in the form of food water and tent’s. Two mobile clinics were dispatched from Germany to help the ill and treat the injured. A mobile bakery was set up to provide bread for refugees which produced 7500 loafs of bread per day. HAI is continuing with its annual projects of Ramadhan food distribution Zakat-ul-fitr feed the fasting and Qurbani meat. HAI also has an orphans project running in Kosova. project running in Kosova.
