Even though Kenya is the most developed of the East African countries half the population live in third world poverty. This situation is much worse in rural areas where people really struggle to survive. 7.5 million Kenyans live in the most extreme poverty and 700 Kenyans die every day from HIV/AIDS related illness. The situation worsens every year: Life expectancy is falling whilst poverty is rising.
