On Wednesday morning 29th October 2008 an Earthquake measuring 6.4 has hit Balochistan province in south-western Pakistan leaving more than 250 dead and hundreds critically injured. More than 15 000 people are displaced and thousands of people are living without any food and shelter. As the winter fast approaches the conditions will get worst day by day.

Human Appeal International has launched an emergency appeal to raise £ £250 000 to help the victims of this terrible natural disaster.

Staff from the HAI Quetta offices (50 miles south of the epicenter) have been on the ground and have carried out a needs assessment.


Emergency relief is being distributed to those affected most. A second team from the Islamabad office will arrive by Saturday to further aid the relief and begin to look at rehabilitation.

People are in urgent need of food water blankets warm clothes and shelter.
